About

We are Seventh-day Adventists willing to Serve

We members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will operate the Lifestyle centre. Each one is willing and happy to move to Wales to volunteer their services for this inspiring and well-needed provision. Our mission is to serve all persons of faiths, race, and nationalities, bringing to each one the message of health and healing.  It is our pleasure to be of service to everyone, especially in these times of government restraint on spending, cuts in the health services and an aging population.

There are many movements in the world today seeking to benefit humanity. We may be sympathetic with their objectives and do what we can to encourage them in their good work. But God has given to Seventh-day Adventists a program of life and health for body and soul which occupies a unique place. “Those who receive Christ as a personal Saviour, choosing to be partakers of His suffering, to live His life of self-denial, to endure shame for His sake, will understand what it means to be a genuine medical missionary.” – Counsels on Health 511.

If obedience, based on knowledge of nature’s laws, is more important than relief of symptoms, what shall we say of any method which promises to cure disease or relieve pain without teaching obedience? What master mind inspires the effort to persuade men and women that they may eat as they please, or disregard God’s laws in other ways, and still find a means of healing without learning and obeying the laws of health?

Our Vision:

“Teach the people that it is better to know how to keep well than how to cure disease. Our physicians should be wise educators, warning all against self-indulgence, and showing that abstinence from the things God has prohibited is the only way to prevent ruin of body and mind.” – 9 Testimonies 161.

The healing process program is for 11 days for those wishing to make a lasting change. We have an ambitious program of health education, with health lectures that are given five days a week. And also classes in simple remedies, healthful cooking, etc…, help to continue a new lifestyle changes upon the return home. The special emphasis on Christian spirituality as well as fellowship with other guests motivates each individual to support each other, like members of a family, while achieving individual lifestyle goals.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. – Proverbs 9:9-12

Mission Statement:

With this in mind, we at Olive Bible Health Ministries believe that the “NEWSTART” concept follows the evangelistic commission given by Jesus Himself. Science supports the health principles promoted, and this is important in an age of evidence-based medicine. A “NEWSTART” is a positive way to respond to human suffering and suicidal tendencies, in this age of increased knowledge and technology. Every day we are witnesses to an increase in the number of deaths directly related to unhealthy lifestyles. Most of these premature deaths could have been prevented, and quality of life increased if simple changes took place in people’s life habits.

Many are looking for meaning in life but with increased skepticism to all traditional forms of religiosity. This skepticism often leads to an attitude of self-protection, saving one from the heartache of meaningless solutions but also reducing the chances of interaction with those who may carry the message of Jesus’ Love. Jesus revealed His method to reach those in need in His Word, the Bible. He spent much of His time caring for the physical and emotional needs of the people, and while doing this had access to their hearts. Centuries later, God counseled us through the Spirit of Prophesy through E G White, that only His method would have long lasting success. He also said that Medical Missionary Work would break prejudice and be the right hand of the Gospel.

Christ’s example shows us five steps for effective ministry:

  1. Mingle with those whom we want to help
  2. Get acquainted with their needs and show a genuine interest in them
  3. Look for means and ways to help
  4. Keep their friendship and trust
  5. Invite them to get acquainted with the Word of God

There are 8 main factors related to disease prevention and physical, emotional and spiritual health. These are: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sun, Temperance, Air, Rest and Trust in Divine Power. Each factor is addressed in detail using a combination of posters, leaflets, booklets, tests and health counseling on all the 8 aspects and most common medical problems, with practical advice on how to prevent and help those conditions using lifestyle modification.

Not for Profit Lifestyle Centre

The ultimate goal of this centre is to be self-sufficient, that all expenditure and income will balance out so that there is no deficit, even if there is a small income at the end of the financial year. It is a Not for Profit institution. Some of the staff will be working on a voluntary basis, but the projection is for the salaries; maintenance of the building; and all expenses involved in the day-to-day running of the centre. The donations from the guests will meet these. It is therefore necessary for our yearly financial projections to be in line with all current changes from the government.

MANAGEMENT

Olive Bible Health Ministries, are all volunteers who are all Seventh-day Adventists, will manage the work as per its constitution and business plan.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. – Revelation 14:12

Our Vision

In harmony with Bible revelation, Olive Bible Health Ministries  see as the climax of God’s plan the restoration of all His creation to full harmony with His perfect will and righteousness.

Identity and Implementation of Our Mission

Our Identity

We at Olive Bible Health Ministries are members of the Seventh-day Adventist church which sees itself as the remnant Church of end-time Bible prophecy. Members of the Church, individually and collectively, understand their special role as ambassadors of God’s kingdom and messengers of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. Seventh-day Adventists have enlisted as co-workers with God in His mission of reclaiming the world from the power and presence of evil, as part of the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan.

Therefore, every aspect of a Church member’s life is influenced by the conviction that we live in the last days described in Bible prophecy and the return of Jesus Christ is imminent. Seventh-day Adventists are called by God to live in this world. Every action of the Christian life is done “in the name of Jesus” and to advance His kingdom.

Implementation of Our Mission

We at Olive Bible Health Ministries as Seventh-day Adventists affirm the Bible as God’s infallible revelation of His will, accepting its authority in the life of each believer, and its foundational role for faith and doctrine. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the power that transforms lives and equips people with abilities to advance God’s kingdom in this world.

Called by God, guided by the Bible and the Spirit of Prophesy, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we at Olive Bible Health Ministries as Seventh-day Adventists, we live in the world and devote ourselves to:

  1. Christ-Like Living—Illustrating the lordship of Jesus in our lives by moral, ethical, and social behaviours that are consistent with the teachings and example of Jesus.
  2. Christ-Like Communicating—Realizing that all are called to active witness, we share through personal conversation, preaching, publishing, and the arts, the Bible’s message about God and the hope and salvation offered through the life, ministry, atoning death, resurrection, and high priestly ministry of Jesus Christ.
  3. Christ-Like Discipling—Asserting the vital importance of continued spiritual growth and development among all who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we nurture and instruct each other in righteous living, provide training for effective witness, and encourage responsive obedience to God’s will.
  4. Christ-Like Teaching—Acknowledging that development of body, mind and character is essential to God’s redemptive plan, we promote the growth of a mature understanding of and relationship to God, His Word, and the created universe.
  5. Christ-Like Healing—Affirming the biblical principles of the well-being of the whole person, we make healthful living and the healing of the sick a priority and through our ministry to all, cooperate with the Creator in His compassionate work of restoration.
  6. Christ-Like Serving—Following the example of Jesus we commit ourselves to humble service, ministering to individuals and populations most affected by poverty, tragedy, hopelessness, and disease.
  7. Christ-Like Loving—Ensuing the love that Jesus has for humanity that He died for all, we commit our lives to lovingly draw all to Him with loving kindness to on and all by reaching out a helping hand.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
